Coronavirus Update – Parish Council’s Response and Action

Following an Emergency Plan meeting, the Parish Council has drawn up an action plan and is co-ordinating a list of volunteers who are able to help in emergencies or on hand for shopping, urgent supplies or “a friendly phone call” to residents in need.

Every house hold in Great Yeldham will be receiving a leaflet.  The leaflet will ask: 

  1. Whether you are able to volunteer or
  2. Whether you require/may require assistance.

 The Leaflet v2 contains the telephone number for your Area Cordinator List 4VM to contact or you can respond via the clerk at greatyeldhampc@btinternet.com .

 The Parish Council have liaised with local shops/pubs who have put in place an order/delivery service for residents.

The Village Local have offered to implement an order system in which residents will be able to phone orders through, payments being taken over the telephone and goods delivered to your door via a volunteer. Best delivery days for fresh food are Monday/Wednesdays and frozen food on Fridays. This will happen from Friday 19th March 2020. The contact telephone number is 01787 238226 or 07930 565830.

The Waggon and Horses Public House have offered to make hot food for residents, orders can be phoned through with payment taken over the phone and delivered to your door. Telephone 01787 237936.

Hedingham Medical Centre. In the interest of patient and staff safety clinical services at GREAT YELDHAM BRANCH has been suspended until further notice.  Please contact the Castle Surgery on 01787 461465 or the Sible Surgery 01787 460612 for your clinical needs and prescriptions.  The On-Line Prescription Service is not available for the next 2 weeks, please contact the surgery to order.  All medication will now need to be collected from either the Castle Surgery or Sible Surgery. Please contact us on 01787 461465/01787 460612 if you need to check where to collect your medication

The Parish Council office will be closed, if you need to contact the Parish Council for non-emergencies please email the clerk at greatyeldhampc@btinternet.com or telephone 01787 237832 where an answer phone message can be left and will be picked up remotely (this is currently in the process of being set up).
