The Essex Energy Switch is a collective
energy switching scheme aimed at helping
residents save money on their gas and
electricity bills. The scheme has been running
for seven years and has already helped over
17, 500 households in Essex save over £4.1m
on their energy bills.
The registration window for the Essex Energy Switch opened on 1 December and closes
on 9 February 2021. Residents can register for free online at www.essex.gov.uk/
energyswitch. Once the registration window closes, energy companies will bid at an
auction to see who can offer the lowest energy tariff. The new addition this year is that all
suppliers must provide 100% renewable electricity tariffs, helping the residents switch to
a green deal and reduce their carbon footprint.
Anyone who has registered will then be contacted directly by the winning company with further details, guidance and information on how to switch. Residents who registered or switched through the Essex Energy Switch last year, will need to register again this year. Once registered, there is no obligation to switch providers.
Essex County Council will be promoting the scheme throughout the registration period via
multiple different communication channels. These include digital and social media
channels, e-newsletters, paid advertising and press releases.
