A Men’s Shed in Great Yeldham? 23rd March, 1:30-3:30pm, Reading Room

The Essex Shed Network is partnering with Great Yeldham Parish Council to deliver a Men’s Shed project to the area. A Men’s Shed is not unlike a traditional Shed in its nature, a place full of tools and machines, but on a larger scale. It is essentially a safe space for men to come together and talk whilst engaging in practical projects (most commonly wood craft). This gives the men an opportunity to either learn, pass on or simply exercise skills that they may have left behind
through retirement. Although the activities themselves provide a boost to physical and mental health, it is the social interaction at Sheds which have the greatest positive impact.

We are currently working to finalise a venue and structure for the shed and would welcome the ideas, knowledge and input from the local community and surrounding areas. The shed will be run by the members, for the members so get involved early and have your say!

A public consultation event is being held in order to gauge community interest, with Essex Shed Network and Parish Council  on hand to answer any questions.
